The challenge
The author needed a site that matches the look of his books and press kit, where he can add new books, reviews, video trailers and short stories himself — without a page builder slowing the site down.
The solution
I built a custom theme with 18 ACF blocks (book intros, praise lists, press logos, video sections, story headers and more). Every block has its own fields, spacing and anchor settings, so new pages are assembled from ready-made sections.
Fonts are self-hosted, videos load only when needed, and the theme is tested and deployed automatically with GitHub Actions to the VPS.
Results
- 18 reusable ACF blocks — new pages without code
- No page builder, no jQuery on the front end
- Tests run on every push; deploy only when they pass
